Police proceed with digital forensics of Psy‘s mobile phone collected

It has been reported that the police have launched a forced investigation into singer Psy, who is suspected of having his manager receive psychotropic drugs by proxy.

According to the report on the 11th, the Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul secured data related to the incident by conducting a seizure search on the offices and vehicles of the agency P Nation, represented by Psy, on the 4th.

The police are reportedly conducting digital forensics on Psy’s mobile phone collected here, and are analyzing records that can check whether they receive non-face-to-face prescriptions and surrogates.

P Nation acknowledged the search and seizure. It said it actively cooperated with the authorities’ request and will continue to take necessary measures in accordance with legal procedures.

The police previously booked Psy for violating the medical law in August and have continued their investigation. It is believed that Psy was prescribed psychotropic drugs “Xanax” and “Steelnox” without face-to-face examination at a hospital in Seoul from 2022 until recently, and received them instead by a third party, including the manager.

Both drugs are psychotropic drugs that need to be diagnosed and prescribed by a doctor. Xanax is a drug that has the effect of treating anxiety disorders and alleviating symptoms, and Steelnox is a prescription drug that is effective in short-term treatment of insomnia in adults.

Kyung-cheol is also reportedly investigating a general hospital professor who prescribed the drug. However, the suspect is reportedly denying the allegation, saying that it was a non-face-to-face treatment. Police have secured medical records at hospitals through search and seizure.

PSY admitted that it was a “clear mistake” and negligence to receive specialized medicine on behalf of the medical staff. However, the prescription was taken under the guidance of the medical staff, and there was no prescription by proxy.

In addition, he/she reflected that he/she had been prescribed drugs through non-face-to-face treatment since the COVID-19 period, and since then, he/she has been complacent about the non-face-to-face prescription process due to his/her busy schedule, but explained that he/she has never overdosed drugs or used them for purposes other than prescription purposes.

The police are also considering summoning Psy directly for investigation later.
