BLACKPINK‘s Rosé changed the history of K-pop by winning two awards at the American Music Awards ceremony, “2025 MTV Video Music Awards (2025 MTV VMAs).”
Rosé won the “Song of the Year” and “Best Group” at the festival held at UBS Arena in New York, United States, on the 7th (local time).

Rosé is the first K-pop singer to win an award in a major VMAs category, including “Song of the Year.” In particular, she won the “Best Group” award as BLACKPINK in 2023 for the second time.
The winning song was “APT.” which was a duet song collaborated with Bruno Mars, and Rosé said, “I can’t believe it. First of all, I’m really grateful to Bruno (Mars) for trusting me and helping me first. I want to dedicate this trophy to my 16-year-old self, who pursues my dream. This is the moment when all the efforts we’ve made so far have paid off. I’m happy to receive this award,” she said.
Rosé went on to say, “TEDDY hyung, (BLACKPINK) members, I got a private award. Thank you always, I love you,” she said in Korean, drawing attention. Following Rosé, member Lisa also won the “Best K-Pop” category. As a result, BLACKPINK won three trophies at the 2025 MTV VMAs.
HYBE’s global girl group KATSEYE won the “Push Performance of the Year” for “Touch” and performed “Gnarly” and “Gabriela” on the pre-performance pre-show stage. KATSEYE said, “I’ve never had a moment like this before, and it feels really fresh. I’ve been through a lot so far, so I feel like this moment is a big present. I really appreciate it,” he said.
This year’s highest award, “Video of the Year”, was won by pop star Ariana Grande’s “brighter days ahead”. Lady Gaga won four trophies, including “Artist of the Year” and “Best Collaboration”, and won the most awards.
