Actress and singer Nana, a former member of the girl group After School, has opened up about her decision to remove nearly all of her tattoos, leaving only one behind.

On October 2, Nana shared a heartfelt post on her social media, writing: “I don’t regret it. I left the only tattoo that gave meaning to my body. 1968, the existence I respect the most. I came back with a clean body. Overcame the pain and grew up firmly. The pain of the past also became a memory. I wrote down my feelings at that time. I overcame it by honestly expressing, acknowledging, and accepting the pain. I want to make a song that anyone can relate to. No one will have pain. I can overcome the pain. I want to give a message of hope to someone. I hope you are happy.”

She added, “I have returned with a clean body, stronger after overcoming the pain. Even the sorrows of the past have become memories. At the time, I simply wrote down what I was feeling.” Nana first drew widespread attention in 2022 during the press conference for the film ‘Confession,’ when her extensive tattoos were revealed. At the time, she clarified that the tattoos were not related to her role but were a personal choice.

In August 2023, Nana appeared on a YouTube channel and revealed she had begun removing her tattoos at her mother’s request. “My mom carefully said she wanted to see me with a clean body again,” Nana explained. “Since she allowed me when I first got them, I had no hesitation and said, ‘Okay, I will erase them.’”

While she has now erased nearly all of her tattoos, Nana kept one that carries deep significance: the year 1968, the birth year of her mother. Speaking about the experience, she reflected, “I overcame it by expressing, acknowledging, and accepting my pain honestly. I want to create music that everyone can relate to, to give someone out there a message of hope. I truly wish for everyone’s happiness.”

On the same day, Nana also made her long-awaited return as a singer and released her first solo album ‘Seventh Heaven 16.’
