After leaving the entertainment industry, a former actress is now experiencing financial hardship that has taken a serious toll on her health.

Casper Chan Sze Tsai (also known as Casper Chan) is a beauty pageant winner and former actress from Hong Kong who made her acting debut in 2001. During her 14-year career, she acted in nearly 40 series, playing roles such as a hotel employee in 7 Days in Life and a magistrate’s daughter in Legend of the Demigods.

After leaving show business in 2015, Chan began working as a holistic therapist. In April, she announced that she would be working for another former actor, Vin Choi, who owns a chicken feet business. At the time, Chan proudly declared that she wanted to become the “queen of chicken feet” and would “bounce back.”

Since then, the 43-year-old ex-star has fallen on hard times. She recently revealed that being an actor in Hong Kong doesn’t pay well, and that she lent all the money she had saved to a friend for an emergency. Sadly, that friend never repaid Chan, and Chan’s health declined.

Of course, in the end, it was gone forever, and the friend disappeared too. After that, my health broke down, even my immune system collapsed.

I lost so much weight. I was only 70 to 80 lbs (32 to 37 kg), and there wasn’t a bit of good flesh on my body.
She shared photos of her widespread rashes and said that seeking “Chinese and Western medical treatment” had left her “financially crippled.”

Since moving to China for her recovery, as her doctor advised, Chan has made a full recovery.

Unfortunately, this isn’t Chan’s first time dealing with health struggles that impacted her quality of life. In 2013, when Chan was serving as a beauty salon ambassador, her struggling acting career took a hit after rumors spread that she had undergone plastic surgery. In truth, two hyaluronic acid injections had caused Chan’s face to swell.
