Fans protested on the official SNS account of the group NewJeans, which has been suspended.

On the 6th, the post of “OLENS,” a color contact brand that members are working as models, along with the hashtag of “Advertising,” was released on the official channel of NewJeans. The released image attracted attention because it was composed only of selfies of the members, not of general advertising photos.

Some fans who saw this reacted negatively, such as “Why do you use these photos for advertisements?” “I don’t know who posted these things,” and “Is it right to post advertisements while they are inactive?”

Earlier, NewJeans held an emergency press conference on November 28 last year and declared that it would leave the company, saying that the improvement request raised by ADOR was not accepted. Members announced that they would terminate their exclusive contract at midnight on November 29, 2024 and start their own activities. In response, ADOR immediately filed a lawsuit with the court to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract and applied for a provisional disposition to prevent them from engaging in advertising contracts or activities on their own.

The Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Consultation Division 50 (Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon) accepted ADOR’s provisional disposition on March 21 last year and decided, “NewJeans members cannot engage in external activities without ADOR’s approval.” NewJeans objected to this, but the court maintained the provisional disposition decision and all appeals were rejected.
